Another idea for Collectors Corner. I know a lot of times some collectors help each other out. Well last night I saw a poster someone mentioned would be their next item to purchase. I didn't know where to post it do I did it in the "new items thread" that's where I usually see people share items that aren't theirs but they wanna help people out.

So I thought to unclutter the new items thread maybe we could have another sticky thread to just post items from eBay or where ever else people shop online. Thread strictly for that. Then new items can stay just for new items and comments.

    Sound like a good idea?

we had this idea before.. i think this would only cause a war between members.. cause, how many times did it happened, i saw something i really want, and i hope nobody else sees the auction, then out of nowhere someone posts the link in the new items thread, which means alot more people see the auction then only because of the poster.... imo its not a good idea to make an extra thread for this.. if someone here and there posts links from ebay in the new items thread, thats ok, but a new thread strictly for ebay auctions, i think this would mean WAR between our collectors lol

Yep i brought this up before and agreed at the end it certainly is a bad idea as it just causes bidding wars between members just better to leave it alone cause ya get better deals if everyone doesn't notice an item at times

Causing wars? lol, how immature some collectors are… eBay is a platform for everybody and I think it's just fair to post links to rare items others would overlook otherwise. Not everybody's got time to lurk eBay 24/7 for new 2Pac items, so collectors would be glad if someone posts the highlights. I was more than happy when somebody made me aware of the Papa'z Song CD single. I would have missed out on this one, most certainly. It was even cooler to ask others if they'll going to bid on it and then they sort of "let me buy it".

I think it's a good idea. We can discuss the items, speculate about the price and so on. I know there are alot of shady bastards in the collector scene but I think we are all mature enough to not go down on this level. Finding a goodie and keep it low to buy it at a low price is ok sometimes but it's also good to have some fair competition. It's not like everybody will share links when a thread like this is opened, so what's the big deal about it?

Well now that you mention it I do see that being some what of an issue. I collect and it's true the less people that know about it the better price you get. Then if someone needs it really bad and some people fuck with them that could be bad. And be a war. But I also see his point too.

I guess we leave it as is unless staff changes their minds. We can pm eachother if we want to help each other but not public where it could be bad.

bad idea, if you find an absolute gem it should be hidden. My bids get run up enough as it is, without everyone knowing about it

Not really agree here. I think a big part of collecting is find rare items that other people dont find. Part of collection is searching the net 24/7 to find the gems .

True also you'd have to be a dumb fuck to share items you are bidding on yourself lol you know it.

IMO posting a picture of an item you won on eBay AFTER the auction causes war rather than sharing links, especially when it was something I was looking for a long time, too. But sorry, I totally forgot this collecting scene is based on egocentricity and greed, mostly. Terrible memories of similar cases suddenly comes to mind.

lol now I remember why I've distanced myself from the collector scene.

one example, i am waiting for a sealed brendas got a baby tape since 2-3 years... then finally one pops up on ebay, i say this here in a thread:

hey guys check out this link: ******************* a tape i was looking for years, now finally its there on ebay, get ur bids up people, please make me pay ~$100 more, good luck

sorry, but ima keep things to myself that i am bidding on.. no sense in letting other people know that make me pay more

Aight, dunno what the fuck you guys are discussing about then. Obviously nobody will share their hot links, it would be just a separate thread where you post links in. Only difference is the links wouldn't be posted in the "New Items Thread" no more, so what's the big deal in creating a new thread and stickying it?

I think the best way is to keep it like we already have now. People can share links if they want in the new items topic or question topic.

But I dont see any surplus value in dedicating a whole thread about this. Cause it will turn out in exact the same thread as the new item thread, or the have a question about...... thread.

Its perfect the way we have now.

Your guys can share it with the other ppl when you said i dont need the items then its okay, but think when a hardcore collector find a hot rare Item that he want not share with ppl this make sense or not ? :/

how say [MENTION=856]LarsVerb post in the New Items Thread when you think you want share it with the community when not buy it yourself

dont really see why this thread turned into an argument. its really simple, if you dont want items your bidding on to be bid on, dont post the link or even mention it at all.

the only point of this thread is to keep ebay links out of the new items thread, so that they have their own dedicated thread. makes sense to me. nothing else will change about what kind of links are posted

[MENTION=3662]MCNewYork71 make the thread and PM it to me and ill get it sticky'd
