REP POINTS?

I was on 174 yesterday and today they've gone down to 171? Any reason?

not sure if you get notified but you can see where you add rep you can also minus rep, so i assuming thats what happened, but im still pretty new here, so would wait till a moderator confirms whats happened.

Yeh to me it sounds like somebody has taken some rep off you. It sucks when that happens. I'm sure you'll get it back up.

hmm.. first thing i would think is u received negative rep points, but i dont think this is the case right here.. i think its because Josh (Admin) had to do a lil' back up one day ago, 5-10 posts got deleted.. the rep points get higher a bit when u post, it could be that one of the 5-10 deleted posts was one of yours, so the "4" rep points u lost was points for a post that u received and later got deleted because we had to do this SMALL back up.. this is my guess, but Josh can say exactly what it was when he see this thread.. dont worry


EDIT: i just checked my rep points, i lost some too, so my guess is this has to do something with that back up we had to do

I was on 174 yesterday and today they've gone down to 171? Any reason?

Periodically I run a maintenance script that will sync everything in the database with what is actually on the site. When doing this it rebuilds things like rep, post count, started thread count, etc.

Every time a thanks/like is given, rep goes up a bit. For every thread you start or post you make, rep power goes up a bit.

Over time as posts get moved, deleted, etc, the rep and post/thread count doesn't automatically adjust. The script is designed to fix that.

I ran this script yesterday after the maintenance Sunday evening.

rep power is bullshit anyway there are people who are online for 10 or 12 days and have half the rep of people who are online for 50 or 60 days or more
