The shoutbox was moved back to being part of the main site, instead of being hosted on another server. I did this because the shoutbox was not used that much, and it didn't make sense for me to keep paying $150 per year for a dedicated shoutbox server, on top of the $200 per year I pay for the main server.

Now that just the one server is hosting both the site and the shoutbox, having it on the main page is a major freaking headache for a webmaster. The main page is loaded by just about every single member, every single time they visit the forum. As members browse, they bounce back to the main page multiple times, in order to reach other parts of the site.

The main page has enough hooks and database queries by itself. Adding the shoutbox on top of that absolutely crushes the database, and the site along with it, especially when every member is loading it dozens, if not hundreds of times per day. It is by far the most resource intensive thing on the site. In fact, it alone uses more resources than everything else on the site combined.

There really isn't much difference now of using the shoutbox tab, as opposed to having it on the main page, since I added the "Latest Posts" mod to the shoutbox tab.

If you guy's want, I can add a drop down menu to the shoutbox tab, that links to each of the sections on the forum. This way there will be no difference having the shoutbox on the tab, other than the huge performance increase we will receive by not having the shoutbox loaded a couple thousand times per day on the main page.

yes I understand completely, is also pointless to pay so much extra money !

You can open a new tab and finish, its not a problem.

Yea, I don't want that thing near me ever again

Uh but yea, I will also be upgrading the shoutbox to the latest version just released a few days ago. Here is a list of the new features/improvements:

                      Change Log
                      v6.2.0 - 31st May 2013, 23:43
                      Shoutbox Sessions
Shoutbox activity is tracked separate from users' shouts
Only shows people who perform an action as active
"Active Indicator" on the toolbar shows whether the user is active in the SB or not
Doesn't flag users generating automatic notices as active

                      Anonym.To Integration
Ability to anonymise any URL entered in the Shoutbox per-instance with Anonym.to
                      Works with BBCode URLs
Displays regular URL while editing shouts

                      Disallow "ALL CAPS"
Ability to disallow all caps per-instance
Uses vBulletin's "Prevent SHOUTING" setting to de-caps the shout

                      New Slash Command: /resetshouts
Resets all users' "Lifetime Shouts" counter to how many shouts they currently have in the system
(Pro) /resetshouts user to reset an individual user's "Lifetime Shouts" counter
Great way to put spammers in their place

                      Context Menu Improvements
Dedicated context menu item for editing shouts (if user has permission to edit that shout)
Dedicated context menu item for deleting shouts (if user has permission to delete that shout)
JavaScript performance for menu closure operations has been improved

                      (Pro) Global Custom Commands
Create custom commands that anyone can use via the AdminCP
Prevents users from creating commands with the same shortcut
                      Great for "canned responses"

                      (Pro) Per-User Shoutbox Toggle
New UserCP option to turn off the entire shoutbox
Hides it completely from all pages

                      Bugfixes
In certain cases, the menu could fail to close properly
