I have made some changes to the shoutbox. In the past I had removed the shoutbox from the main forum page on the dark style, but left it for the others. For those on the dark style, they could click on the shoutbox tab on the sites nav bar.
Our site has continued to grow and we have now reached the largest we have been in the 3 1/2 years since this site was created. This has had an unfortunate side effect of making the site a little bit slower than it should be. After digging through logs and doing many tests, I was able to show that the shoutbox was still way at the top of the site resource usage. Because of this I have had to remove the shoutbox from the main page of all styles.
The shoutbox is still accessible via the shoutbox tab in the navbar. I made a few changes to this page as well, in order to make it faster and use less site resources. I won't go into too much detail, since it will probably confuse you all, but the page works and the shoutbox should be noticeably faster, without hurting the other sites resources.
You may have to log in again when you click the shoutbox tab. Simply check the box to stay logged in after typing your username and password and it shouldnt be a problem anymore.
To sum this all up. The site should be noticeably faster now, and the shoutbox should respond faster, but you will have to view the shoutbox in a separate tab instead of right on the homepage.
