And the remakes continue, this time its Charles E. Sellier, Jr.’s Silent Night, Deadly Night which is set for the redux, but its said to be a “loose” remake, so only time will tell.
According to Variety, Steven C. Miller (Automation Transfusion) has been tapped to direct a loose remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night which has Malcolm McDowell attatched to star.
“Story follows a local police department’s search for the killer Santa Claus terrorizing a remote Midwestern town on Christmas Eve. McDowell will play Sheriff Cooper, a small-town hero ready for some big-time action.”
Anchor Bay has secured North American distribution rights which will begin shooting next month.
Richard Saperstein, Brian Witten and Shara Kay are all attached to produce the feature along with Phyllis Laing of Buffalo Gal Pictures.
With Malcolm McDowell on-board, I have a lot of faith that this might be one of the better remakes, I guess we shall see.
