I think also because he is not how Fleming described bond. Bond is supposed to be dark haired, with a dark complexion. Craig obviously does not fit that description.
I think Craig does a very good job of portraying bond though. He reminds me of timothy Daltons portrayal of bond, who multiple people, including friends of Fleming stated was easily the most accurate portrayal of bond

I agree tho pierce did a very good bond, too bad all his bond movies besides goldeneye were terrible. Die another day especially.

I wouldn't say truer than all the rest but def more so than moore or lazenby. Dalton was the 'truest' bond. Sean connery actually was too. A lot of people don't know that ian fleming changed the characters background to be scottish because he liked the way connery protrayed bond in the movie dr no so much.
