Paramount's One Shot, starring Tom Cruise, has been retitled to Jack Reacher, which is the name of the main character from the original novels from Lee Child.
Last summer, there was initially some controversy surrounding the decision to cast Cruise as the hulking, ex-military policeman Jack Reacher. Many fans expressed their concern that the 5'7" actor wouldn't be able to fill the shoes of the franchise's 6'5" protagonist. However, Cruise has assured the viewers that he will compensate for "everything but the height." Even Child himself has approved of Cruise in the leading role.
The title change is likely an indication that the studio wants to jumpstart another franchise, which would mark the second one Cruise is headlining at the studio (Mission: Impossible being the first). Jack Reacher is scheduled to hit theaters on December 21.
