Actor will fill in for Mark Wahlberg, who is now leaving the project.
Adam Sandler is currently in talks to co-star alongside Will Ferrell in Three Mississippi, a new Warner Bros. comedy from 30 Rock executive producer Robert Carlock and Friends executive producer Scott Silveri.
Vulture reports that Sandler wouldn't just being added to the film but actually replacing Mark Wahlberg in the story about two rival families who share an annual tackle football game every Thanksgiving -- and one family (Wahlberg's) is always the inevitable loser.
Wahlberg's leave of absence apparently stemmed from two factors: one, Wahlberg is already slated to appear in Peter Berg's next film Lone Survivor for Universal; and two, with the sudden green light for Anchorman, Ferrell wanted to make sure he could squeeze in Three Mississippi before shooting the Ron Burgundy comedy in January. And since Wahlberg is already tied to Lone Survivor in the months ahead, Warners has decided to move forward without him.
Production is now slated for this fall with Sean Anders (That's My Boy) taking over directing duties for Adam McKay, who will also be working on Anchorman.
