  • Masters of the Universe Comes to Blu-ray He-Man turns 25.

By the power of Grayskull, Blu-ray has the power! To celebrate the film's 25th Anniversary, Warner Home Video will bring the Dolph Lundgren He-Man epic, Masters of the Universe, to Blu-ray October 2, 2012.

Here's a synopsis of the film, direct from Warner, "Planet Eternia and the Castle of Greyskull are under threat from the evil Skeletor who wants to take over the planet. A group of freedom fighters, led by the heroic He-Man are accidentally transported to Earth by a mysterious Cosmic Key which holds the power to make Skeletor all-powerful. Once on Earth, He-Man joins alliances with two teenagers as they attempt to find the key and return home."

No word yet on official specs. Fans should likely expect a 1080p high definition transfer and lossless audio. The DVD was mixed in stereo surround. Hopefully the Blu-ray will receive a fresh 5.1 remix. Suggested retail for this title is $19.98. Amazon has the film available for pre-order for just $13.99.

Bonus features for this release are also a mystery. The previous DVD of Masters of the Universe boasted a pretty insightful commentary with director Gary Goddard, who openly talked about the film's many problems. Here's hoping that track is ported over along with a few new goodies. Hopefully the upcoming Toy Masters documentary will be featured on the disc! Here's a segment from that documentary about the Masters of the Universe movie:
