Ubisoft's best-selling video game franchise, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, is headed to the big screen, Deadline reports. The project is currently looking for a studio to call home.
The first game was released in 2002 and set in 2004, following the adventures of Sam Fisher, a covert operative assigned to a top-secret National Security Agency branch called the Third Echelon.
The games has had several sequels including, most recently, Tom Clancy's Spint Cell: Conviction, released in 2010. A new game, Blacklist is planned for release early next year.
At the moment, plans for a big screen version of Splinter Cell are relatively nascent, but check back for details as they become available.
