Marvel's opus has made some $1.44 billion worldwide.
Marvel's The Avengers is expected to cross the $600 million mark at the domestic box office today, making it only one of three films to ever hit that amount.
Add in foreign receipts, and the film has now raked in some $1.44 billion worldwide, making it the number-three grossing movie of all time both globally and domestically.
Of course, these records don't take into account the movies of yesteryear when tickets cost less -- and hence the films made less money -- but more people were actually attending. Gone with the Wind remains at the top of that chart, with an adjusted gross of $1.6 billion.
