A few Halloweens ago, we ran a poll asking readers to submit their ultimate Halloween Movie Marathon list. Suprisingly, many of you picked the 1993 film Hocus Pocus. Yes, it's a slice of friendly, spooky family fare, but it has quite the cult following, apparently. Now, one site is reporting that Disney is looking to create a sequel to the film.
According to Moviehole, Disney is developing Hocus Pocus 2: Rise of the Elderwitch. No writer, director or actor information are available at this moment as the project is still in its early stages. Will it go theatrical? Who really knows? This sounds like something that would be more geared for Disney's direct-to-DVD/Blu-ray line.
The original was directed by Kenny Ortega and written by Mick Garris and Neil Cuthbert. Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy starred.
