With Wes Anderson's whimsical Moonrise Kingdom doing surprisingly well at the box office, the director is already gearing up for his next effort. Twitchfilm brings the interesting scoop that Anderson has approached some huge names to be a part of his next cast, including some A-listers who have never worked with Anderson before.
Johnny Depp, Owen Wilson, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Jude Law, Jeff Goldblum, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe and Angela Lansbury are all reportedly in various stages of negotiations, which could be anywhere from early talks with Anderson to more concrete confirmations. Owen Wilson recently said he would definitely be involved in Anderson's newest film (which still doesn't have a title) since Wilson skipped Moonrise Kingdom to go work with Woody Allen on Midnight in Paris instead.
A lot of these actors have worked with Anderson before (I had forgotten about Willem Dafoe in The Life Aquatic until right now), but this would be the first collaboration between the quirky director and Depp, Lansbury, and Law. It's a hell of a fantasy cast and it would be pretty incredible to see them all under Anderson's unique direction. So we'll have to see if scheduling works out with all of these actors. I'm sure some are busy enough for that to be a problem. Maybe they're just looking to cameo, but Anderson prefers ensemble casts and if he can work out the kinks, this has the potential to be the most impressive cast he's ever assembled.
We don't have any details about the film's plot, but would you like to see these actors all come together in a Wes Anderson film? What should it be about?
