Trade confirms rumors of Office star's involvement.
It was first rumored some months ago, but now it looks like Ed Helms will indeed be taking a Vacation.
Variety reports that the Office star will play a now-adult Rusty Griswold in a new sequel/pseudo-reboot of National Lampoon's Vacation. The rumor mill has suggested in the past that Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo will reprise their roles as Rusty's parents Clark and Ellen Griswold, respectively, but Variety made no mention of that.
The new film -- scripted by Horrible Bosses' John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein -- will follow grown-up Rusty as he takes his own family on a trouble-plagued getaway. David Dobkin will produce.
Production is expected to commence next spring after Helms wraps on The Office and The Hangover 3.
