It still feels like a fantasy. Sequel, remake, reboot, whatever the case, it’s incredibly weird to be a hardcore horror fan and know that a new The Evil Dead film exists.
Bloody received word late last night that Fede Alvarez has officially wrapped production on Evil Dead, his remake of Sam Raimi’s 1981 classic that inspired dozens of genre filmmakers.
Starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore, Jessica Lucas, Bruce Campbell, “Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.” They are there to help one of their friends detox from her drug addiction and think many of the hallucinations are related.
Alvarez worked on the screenplay with both Diablo Cody and Rodo Sayagues. FilmDistrict will have in theaters by April 12, 2013. Expect some sort of “first look” soon! Until then, what are your thoughts on this reboot?
