Back in 2009 director Sam Raimi was set to direct the big screen adaptation of World of Warcraft. The news got fans super excited about what was to come, it was the perfect project for Raimi to take on! Not only is he a huge fan of the game, but he has the awesome imagination to epically bring this world to life. Today I bring you the sad news that Raimi is no longer directing the film. Why? Because he chose to make OZ The Great and Powerful instead. I guess Disney offered him more money.
While promoting his Disney film at Comic-Con this year, Crave Online caught up with him and asked Raimi for an update on the World of Warcraft movie, here's what he said...
Actually, they don’t have me directing World of Warcraft anymore because when I took the Oz job, they had to move on to another director. They had to start making it.
The good news is, the movie is still moving forward, the bad news is... well you know what the bad news is. It's a bloody shame that that Raimi had to drop out of the movie. I wish Blizzard would have waited for him, I would have been fine waiting a little longer to see Raimi's vision brought to life! Not sure who they've replaced him with, or what directors they are looking at to replace him, but I hope they bring on someone crazy talented!
Who would you like to see replace Raimi as the director on this film?
