With the news of a prequel to The Shining potentially getting underway, how about I give you something to try and put that to the back of your mind? Well, if you live in the U.K., we have a very special treat for you, and its the first time that this cut has been released in the U.K.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the British Film Institute plans to roll out the U.S. version of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining across U.K. cinemas this Halloween. This cut is 24 minutes longer than the European version previously released here in 1980.
The plan is to release the film in over 120 screens up and down the U.K. with plans to extend certain sites.
The film follows “family man and would-be writer (Nicholson) going mad as winter caretaker of the cursed Overlook Hotel is a seminal work of the genre. Kubrick’s film has been described as a masterpiece of modern horror and is widely considered to be one of the most terrifying movies ever made.”
