Most excellent news! Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) is now set to direct the long-awaited Bill & Ted 3, with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter attached to reprise their roles as Ted Logan and Bill Preston, respectively.
Vulture reports that creators Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson have already written the script, which addresses where our heroes are in their lives today (as opposed to rebooting the franchise completely). Current plans are to develop the film as a mid-priced comedy a la Hot Tub Time Machine.
While MGM still retains the rights to the characters, insiders claim the project is still being shopped around to other studios for co-financing. Should everything come together, Parisot will likely direct the pic following his shoot on Red 2, which begins this spring.
