ack in January, Paramount announced that they were pushing the release date of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters from March of this year to January 2013. Since then, we haven't seen so much as a bread crumb of news on the project... until now.

Collider is now reporting that -- after some ill-informed rumors floating around IMDb suggesting the possibility of both an R-rated version and a PG-13 version -- the revisionist fairytale will definitely be rated R.

While two versions of the film have indeed been test-screened for audiences, both of those versions are said to be R, but with varying degrees of mature content. The "more R-rated" cut is said to be testing better, according to insiders.
