Bill Paxton is in talks with Warner Bros. to join Tom Cruise in the Doug Liman directed sci-fi action film All You Need is Kill. I love Paxton as an actor, and he'll make a great addition to the cast which also includes Emily Blunt.
The movie is an adaptation of Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, and has been described as an awesome sci-fi version of the film Goundhog Day. The story follows a soldier in a war against aliens who finds himself reliving his last day in the battle over and over again after being killed. Because of this, he's able to become a better soldier. Cruise takes on the lead role and Blunt plays another soldier who fights alongside him.
Paxton would perfectly be cast in the role of "a tough-as-nails platoon sergeant described in the script as a living piece of leather.” I hope he ends up in the film, I'd love to see Paxton in the role!
One of my favorite Paxton movie quotes comes from Aliens when he said, "I don't know if you've been keeping up on current events... but we just got our asses kicked, pal!" What's one of your favorite Bill Paxton movie moments?
The movie is scheduled to start shooting this fall, and here's a description of the story:
There's one thing worse than dying. It's coming back to do it again and again... When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the B*tch of War. Is the B*tch the key to Keiji's escape, or to his final death?
