Well I’ll be damned. An Adam Sandler movie has actually done really well at the box-office. In all fairness, I have nothing against the dude, I actually enjoy some of his slapstick performances, but it looks as if Hotel Transylvania could be his biggest film ever.
According to Deadline, Hotel Transylvania has took an estimated $43.0M for the weekend. Not only has the film beat the record for the all-time September opening, but, the film marks the highest grossing debut for Sony Pictures Animation.
Deadline reports that the film cost around $104M and is expected to make between $390M-$550M at the worldwide box office. Not too shabby for Genndy Tartakovsky’s animated feature debut.
The film is also 2012′s biggest opening since The Dark Night Rises, so kudos to the guys who put this one together.
