It's full steam ahead for Disney's Muppets sequel. The studio is now aiming to release the film on December 20, 2013.
As previously reported, the story will be a comedy caper set in Europe and will feature Christoph Waltz as an Interpol inspector. Nicholas Stoller and James Bobin are writing the followup, with Bobin returning to direct. Additionally, Collider reports that the original film's songwriter Bret McKenzie will be writing new songs for The Muppets 2.
With the release date set a little over a year from now, Disney is expected to begin production this January in and around London. Shooting will likely last until April. With that, expect to hear more casting news in the near future.
