  • Steven Spielberg’s Robopocalypse has been “indefinitely postponed”

Sad news! Steven Spielberg's movie adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson's Robopocalypse has been pushed back (yet again) until who knows when. The movie was rapidly picking up big name talent: Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods) was working on the script, and Chris Hemsworth and Anne Hathaway were attached to star. So why is Spielberg pushing it back?

The Spielberg camp released this official statement to THR:

[The project is] too important and the script is not ready, and it's too expensive to produce. It's back to the drawing board to see what is possible.

So the culprit is money and the script, and that quote sounds like they're starting over from scratch. Not super surprising as Spielberg may do whatever the hell he wants on the time table he wants. And we'd rather have a movie he's willing to direct than nothing at all. Let's just all hope this project doesn't fall into the pit of movie-making despair.
