Dust off your giant knit hat and Dickon obsession, Guillermo del Toro is making a Secret Garden movie. But wait, it gets even better — GDT is pairing up with Lucy Alibar, the co-writer of Beasts of the Southern Wild.
Deadline is reporting that Alibar will write and GDT will produce a new movie adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett‘s Secret Garden. No word on who will direct just yet. However, there is this bit of news "[the movie] will be set in the American South at the turn of the 20th Century." Which is a huge change in location. HUGE CHANGE. This is certainly the first of what we expect are many, many, many tweaks to the original work. In fact, we really wouldn't be surprised if these two infuse this adaptation with a lot of supernatural wonder, and fairies. We trust GDT, so OK, just don't cut Dickon, or we will cut you.
