Guillermo Del Toro is getting ready to shoot his next film Crimson Peak, which sounds like it's going to be a great haunted house horror thriller. It's looking like Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man) and Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim) will end up taking the lead roles in the film. The director previously described the film as being “a very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story. It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love, and at the same time subvert the old rules." He's now given us a few more little details on the film project saying,
It’s the turn of the century. So it’s at the turn of the century and half of the movie takes place in America, and the other half takes place in a crumbling mansion in Cumbria. And basically it’s a ghost story and gothic romance, trying to subvert the rules of the usual gothic romance. It’s very much... the first half is a love story, then that love story turns darker. And it’s at the same time a ghost story. I’m working at this moment with Lucinda Clarkson who is a really great playwright from the UK. She has the proper degree of perversity and intelligence to turn it into something interesting to watch. It’s sort of a very compelling version of the classic gothic romance, where you have the spookiness and the windswept landscape that dooms the characters, you know?
This sounds like it's going to be a great dark story, and I'm really excited to see what the director has planed for it visually. Legendary Pictures is producing the film, and they're looking to shoot it sometime in 2014. Bring it on Del Toro! Give us another great horror movie!
