As a huge fan of the original Vacation movies with Chevy Chase, I've been excited about this new sequel we've been hearing about. Vacation writer and directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have revealed that the movie will actually finally start shooting this summer in Atlanta and New Mexico. Ed Helms will be playing Clark Griswold's grown up son Rusty who takes his own family on a road trip of hilarious misadventures.
Daley and Goldstein talked to Collider about all this recently, and also said that they're casting the other parts right now, some of them will include familiar faces. They don't specify who but they say, “We do [have plans to bring people back]. We’re in the process of having those conversations.”
I assume some of that actors will include Chase, Beverly D'Angelo, and Randy Quaid. It'd be fun to see Anthony Michael Hall in there, even though he's not reprising his role.
It will be interesting to see if they go back to Wally World, because that would be amazing. I can't wait to see how this movie turns out! Here's a funny quote from the directors about this being their first feature film directing gig...
I mean we’ve been directing shorts together, but this is our first feature. When we wrote the script we didn’t know we’d be directing it and then New Line said, ‘Do you wanna pitch yourselves to direct it?’ And we were like ‘You bet!’” “And then we looked at the script and it was like, ‘who wrote this piece of shit?’
