Looks like Warner Bros. and director Guy Ritchie have found their leading man for The Man From U.N.C.L.E. According to Deadline Tom Cruise is their man. At one point Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney were going to develop the film, but obviously that didn't seem to work out.
The film is based on a TV series that I've never seen, which ran from 1964-68. The story follows "two agents of the United Network Command for Law Enforcement. With gadgets and their wits and charm, they fought the evil forces of Thrush."
Cruise has been on a role lately, and I've been enjoying his recent films. Jack Reacher was surprisingly really good. He's also got some other great movies coming out soon such as Oblivion and All You Need is Kill. Both of which seem like they will be great movies. He's also about to get to work on another Mission: Impossible movie with director Christopher McQuarrie.
If The Man From U.N.C.L.E. ends up being a success, Cruise and Ritchie could both have another franchise on their hands.
