Open Road Films announced Thursday that Machete Kills, Rodriguez’s sequel to 2010′s Machete, would shift from a September 13 release date to October 4, 2013.
The Oct. 4 date was recently vacated by Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (which is co-directed by Rodriguez and Frank Miller) when The Weinstein Co.’s Dimension Films moved the gritty sequel to August 22, 2014, THR explained.
“Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent Machete, who is recruited by the President of the United States (Charlie Sheen) for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer (Mel Gibson) who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.
