Not long ago Sandra Bullock was in talks to play Miss Hannigan in the Will Smith and Jay-Z produced big screen remake of the classic Broadway musical Annie. She ended up passing on the part, and Cameron Diaz came in and scooped it up. She's officially on board, and joins the previously cast Quvenzhane Wallis (Beasts of Southern Wild), who plays the title character, and Jamie Foxx, who is set to play the Daddy Warbucks character, now renamed Benjamin Stacks.
The movie is being directed by Will Gluck from a script written by Emma Thompson and later rewritten by Aline Brosh McKenna.
The story will be set in the modern day and follow the adventures of little orphan Annie as she tries to find a family to call her own. She ends up being adopted by a billionaire.
I'm not the biggest fan of Diaz, and I'm not even sure she can sing. I guess we'll have to see if she will be able to pull it off. What do you think about the actress taking on this role?
