Creator will serve as a consultant on the new film.
Writer James O'Barr, creator of the 1989 The Crow graphic novel, is now on-board the feature reboot from Relativity Media.
According to Variety, O'Barr will serve as a consultant on the project. Fast & Furious 6's Luke Evans will star in the lead role made famous by Brandon Lee in the original 1994 movie, and F. Javier Gutierrez will direct from a script by Cliff Dorfman. Production is slated for early 2014.
"It is important for Crow fans to understand that Relativity, Javier, Luke and the entire team are working on a new adaptation of the book itself," O'Barr said in a statement. "I believe that this movie will stand alongside Brandon and his film as a valid work of art, and I look forward to collaborating on the project."
O'Barr and Gutierrez will also be appearing at San Diego Comic-Con to talk about The Crow reboot and meet with fans.
