Roadshow Films have announced that it will release the sequel to the highest grossing Australian R18+ film of all time, Wolf Creek 2, in Australia on February 20, 2014.
Excited fan boys and girls were the first to hear the word as Wolf Creek 2 Director, Greg Mclean announced the release date at Melbourne’s Oz Comic-Con on Saturday afternoon.
“Our goal is to create an even more suspenseful, chilling and unforgettable experience for audiences and we feel very confident they will not be disappointed, said Greg Mclean.
Mclean continued, “I’m so excited to be once again working with Roadshow Films on the new movie and look forward to unleashing the next instalment of this thriller across Australia early next year.”
Roadshow Films Managing Director, Joel Pearlman said “Wolf Creek wowed audiences when it released in Australia in 2005. It is exciting that Greg and his team have a found a way to bring the next chapter in the story of Mick Taylor to the screen and we are looking forward to bringing WC2 to audiences in 2014.”
Wolf Creek was the number one Australian film in 2005 and also became the highest grossing Australian R18+ film of all time.
“Seeking to experience the real Australia, backpackers Rutger and Katarina hitchhike off the main tourist route to the awe-inspiring Wolf Creek crater. A place that’s also the hunting ground of psychopathic pig-shooter Mick Taylor: the last man any outback traveller wants to meet.
After a chilling attack in the dead of night, the crazed bushman pursues his prey in an epic, white-knuckled rampage across hostile wasteland that pushes his victims to the brink of madness. When Mick locks onto his prey, nothing — and no-one — can stand in his way.”
