We haven't heard much about the eagerly anticipated Sharknado 2 since it was first announced in July, but now Syfy has announced an official title and release date for the upcoming sequel.
After reviewing more than 5,000 Twitter submissions to its "Name Sharknado 2" social media contest, the network announced that the official title will be Sharknado 2: The Second One.
"Since Twitter played such a huge role in the success of the original movie, we wanted to use that platform to ask our fans to name Sharknado 2," said Thomas Vitale, EVP of Syfy Programming and Original Movies. "This response is another reminder of how Sharknado has become a pop culture phenomenon. We want to thank all our viewers for their wonderful contributions to keeping up the shark-mentum."
Sharknado 2: The Second One, which is said to take place in New York City, is now scheduled for a July 2014 premiere.
Until then, why not Shark Cat?
