Back in July, director Len Wiseman dropped out of Universal Studios' upcoming reboot of The Mummy and since then, the search has been on for a replacement. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Mama director Andres Muschietti is in talks to helm the film.
Muschietti's Mama was a surprise hit for the studio, grossing over $146 million at the worldwide box office.
There is currently no casting for the film, but expect that to change soon. Sean Daniels, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will produce from a script by Prometheus writer Jon Spaihts.
Unlike previous "Mummy" films, the reboot is said to be set in modern day but is described as "action-adventure tentpole with horror elements."
