Thor's hammer smashed the box office in a big way this weekend, beating out every other movie by a huge margin.
Thor: The Dark World opened at #1 with $86.1 million. Despite the strong start, most expected it to top $100 million.
Surpassing the ticket sales of the original Thor, which earned $65.7 million when it opened in May of 2011, Thor: The Dark World marks a record for a Disney November opening, topping the $70.5 million The Incredibles earned in 2004.
Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa held steady at #2 with $11.3 million for a $78 million domestic haul; the animated Free Birds climbed one slot to #3 with $11.18 million to bring its total to $30.1 million; Last Vegas lands at #4 with $11.1 million; and last weekend's top film, Ender's Game closes out the top 5 with $10.2 million.
