Little hand says it's time to rock and roll, Gerard Butler.
The 300 and Olympus Has Fallen star is in final negotiations to star in Alcon's remake of Point Break, which will be set in the realm of extreme sports as opposed to the Southern California surfing scene of the 1991 film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Butler will play Bodhi, an expert extreme-sports athlete who seeks nirvana through the conquest of a series of athletic feats such as surfing 100-foot waves. He saves Johnny Utah, the undercover FBI agent, and brings him into the fold of international criminals."
The late Patrick Swayze played Bodhi in the original Kathryn Bigelow-directed film opposite Keanu Reeves as Johnny Utah. The remake's Johnny has yet to be cast.
Point Break is slated to begin filming this summer under the direction of Ericson Core (Invincible). Equilibrium's Kurt Wimmer wrote the script.
Butler will first shoot Gods of Egypt before segueing to Point Break followed by the Olympus sequel London is Falling.
