  • Box Office: 'The LEGO Movie' Beats 'Pompeii' For #1

    Despite a pair of action flicks, The LEGO Movie reigned over the weekend box office.

    In its third weekend, the film brought in $31.4 million to bring its domestic haul to just over $183.1 million. The film, which features the voices of Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks and Morgan Freeman, is the highest-grossing film of 2014 so far.

    In second place in the Kevin Costner action, 3 Days To Kill, raking in $12.3 million. The film is about a dying Secret Service Agent (Costner) trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter is offered an experimental drug that could save his life in exchange for one last assignment.

    Pompeii comes in at #3 with just over $10 million. It's about a slave-turned-gladiator finds himself in a race against time to save his true love, who has been betrothed to a corrupt Roman Senator. As Mount Vesuvius erupts, he must fight to save his beloved as Pompeii crumbles around him. It stars Kit Harington, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Carrie-Anne Moss.

    The Robocop reboot lands at #4 in its second weekend with $9.4 million to bring its total to $43.6 million; and George Clooney's The Monuments Men closes out the top 5 with $8.1 million.

    That's a wrap for this weekend. This upcoming week, look out for the release of Liam Neeson's Non-Stop and Fox's Son of God.
