Batman Begins and Man of Steel screenwriter David Goyer is the latest writer to take on the script for the James Cameron remake of the sci-fi film Fantastic Voyage.
The story revolves around a team of five scientists who are shrunk to atomic size, placed in a mini submarine type ship, and injected inside the body of another scientist to save his life by fixing a blood clot. The original 1966 film was set during the Cold War, and the scientist was a defector who was in a coma after an assassination attempt.
This movie has been in development for years, but Cameron and his production team still haven't given up on it. The plan is to use the same 3D technology that the director is using for his Avatar films.
At one point Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) was almost set to direct the movie, and a couple of the rumored stars included Will Smith and Hugh Jackman. Goyer will re-engineer the script, and develop some that FOX hopes will be a big-budget tent-pole film. It seems like Goyer is the go-to-guy for projects like this.
