Adam Sandler has teamed up with Netflix to develop four feature films that will be distributed exclusively on the digital platform. Sandler has been in a movie slump recently. I think the last decent film that he starred in was Judd Apatow's Funny People, but I am looking forward to seeing him in the upcoming film Pixels, which he is currently shooting.
Netflix seems like it would be a fun a creative place for him to develop projects, and I hope he uses it as an opportunity to tell good, quality stories in all kinds of different genres. I do love the reason Sandler agreed to work with them.
"When these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said yes for one reason and one reason only….Netflix rhymes with Wet Chicks. Let the streaming begin!!!!"
Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos added,
"People love Adam's films on Netflix and often watch them again and again. His appeal spans across viewers of all ages -- everybody has a favorite movie, everyone has a favorite line -- not just in the US but all over the world."
Sandler's production company Happy Madison Productions will work alongside Netflix to develop the four films, and none of the current studio film commitments are included in the deal.
