About a month ago it was reported that Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass would be returning for another Jason Bourne adventure. Damon has confirmed that he will be back to reprise his role in the action franchise and that Greengrass is also officially on board to direct. When he was asked about it by E! Online, the actor said,
"Yes, next year. It'll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. [Director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."
I thought the first three movies were awesome, and it’s great to see that these talents are teaming up again to tell a new story. I didn’t think it would happen, especially when Greengrass had this to say in a previous interview with Deadline last year:
"In the end I felt I had given it my all in two films I'm very proud of and didn't want to make another if I didn't believe it could be as good if not better. I couldn't come up with an idea, and the business reality of franchises is that when a studio has a Bourne, they're obliged to make one every couple of years. I discovered in my heart I didn't have another one in me. The best thing was to move on, have someone else come in and make their mark on it."
He must have come up with some kind of great idea since he has agreed to come back. Or maybe Universal Pictures made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Regardless of how the deal came together, it will be fun to see Bourne back in action.
