  • Doctor Doom Character Changes Revealed for FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot

Actor Toby Kebbell has revealed some interesting changes that were made to the Doctor Doom villain in Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot. I’m not sure if fans are going to like this because it’s not the Doom we’ve come to know over the years in the comics. In fact, his name in the film isn’t even Victor Von Doom. During an interview with Collider, the actor disclosed some revealing information on the villain that he plays:

“I’m excited to see it too, and my nerves really… The only thing I can tease you about is what I worked on most was the voice because nobody—even in the cartoons, when I was watching them I was like, ‘So where’s he from?’ There’s a mild change and I’ll tell you because of our history. He’s Victor Domashev, not Victor Von Doom in our story. And I’m sure I’ll be sent to jail for telling you that. The Doom in ours—I’m a programmer. Very anti-social programmer. And on blogging sites I’m ‘Doom’.

So, he still uses the 'Doom' name, but as an anti-social programmer alias. That’s definitely very different from the comic, but it seems like this film is going to stray from the comics a lot. In fact, it's sounding like it’s going to be a reinvention of this whole superhero story. He talks about the voice of the character a little bit more in a separate interview with Comingsoon saying,

"The thing I really concentrated on for Doctor Doom -- or just 'Doom,' as we've got him -- was the voice. Even on the animated series, they never got his voice what I imagined it to be when I read the comics as a little boy… What I spent the majority of my time doing was not just being a fan, but being a bit of [a] pedant and making sure I got exactly what I always wanted to see."

It’s going to be interesting to see how this type of villain interacts with the heroes of the story. It’s hard to imagine anyone taking a disgruntled blogger that goes by the name of Doom seriously as a villain though. He went on to talk about working on the project saying:

“Yeah, it was cool man. Josh, the whole deal, the lo-fi way he did it, the ultra-real. It was just nice to do that. It was nice to be feeling like we had to come to terms with what was given by this incident.”
