I really enjoyed director Duncan Jones’ sci-fi thriller Source Code. Now Variety reports that The Mark Gordon Company and Vendome Pictures are reteaming to develop Source Code 2. Neither the director or star Jake Gyllenhaal will be back, though. This sequel will be directed by Anna Foerster, and the script will be written by original Source Code screenwriter Ben Ripley.
The first movie took place on a Chicago commuter train and followed a soldier who wakes up in someone else's body. Along they way he discovers that he's part of an experimental government program to find the bomber of the train, a mission he has only 8 minutes to complete.
That was such a cool concept, and I imagine that the sequel will implement some of the same kind of scenarios that we saw in the first one. I’d be a lot more interested in the film if Jones came back to direct it, but he’s off doing bigger and better things now.
