Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty) has been cast in The Huntsman alongside Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron, who will be reprising their roles from Snow White and the Huntsman. Variety reports that Emily Blunt will also be officially joining the cast. Directing the film will be Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, who was a visual effects supervisor on the first movie.
There isn’t much to say about the plot right now other than the film reveals how the fate of two characters, The Huntsman (Hemsworth) and Ravenna (Theron), intersect before Snow White comes along. Details on Chastain's character are also vague at the moment. It was previously rumored that Blunt would be playing a villain, though.
Frank Darabont, the previous director attached to the movie, wrote the current draft of the screenplay, with previous drafts written by Craig Mazin and Evan Spiliotopoulos. The film is set to be released on April 22, 2016.
Chastain is a solid actress who's starred in recent films such as Interstellar, A Most Violent Year, and the upcoming Guillermo del Toro movie Crimson Peak, which comes out this October. She will also be in Ridley Scott’s current film project, The Martian.
