When Sony Pictures was hacked, it was revealed that there were discussions involving a crossover film that would bring together Men in Black with the Jump Street franchise. This isn't just a pipe dream either, this movie could actually happen, and it's still being considered. In a recent interview with Comingsoon, writer and director Chris Miller talks about the possible project. When asked about the movie he said:
"Well, it’s very, very early on in this crazy fever pitch, but it’s definitely a really interesting concept that makes you think. Talking about it, developing it with Jonah and Channing and Rodney and the studio, we can’t just do the, 'Hey, it’s the same thing again' schtick because we did that already."
I'm happy to hear that they are looking to be even more inventive with the properties, as if combining the two franchise together wasn't enough. He's then asked about the Jump Street sequels seen at the very end of 22 Jump Street, and he goes on to explain:
"Exactly. Those are canon, all 22 sequels. If we’re going to do something, it’s got to be different but still have that same very specific Jump Street flavor to it."
There's no word on if Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones would be involved with the project, but it wouldn't be a proper crossover without them. If they don't jump on board this crazy ride, I'm sure Miller and co-writer/co-director Phil Lord will still come up with and an awesome story. That's just what these creative guys do.
