No, this isn't the 478th revenge-based movie that the former Governator will headline. 478 is the name of a new film written by Enemy scribe Javier Gullon, and Deadline reports that Arnold Schwarzenegger will star in the project as a follow-up to Terminator Genisys.
The story follows a man (Schwarzenegger) whose wife and child die in a plane crash. The air traffic controller responsible for the accident is put into protective custody, but Arnold apparently can't let it go and sets out to get revenge. Deadline added this interesting piece of context: "Though it sounds like a standard revenge film, I’m told it isn’t. It is much more subtle than that — a real character piece more than an action film". With the small scale zombie drama Maggie under his belt, it seems like Schwarzenegger is alternating between big tentpole films and smaller ones like this that may strike him as more personally fulfilling; I'm all for that kind of divide in his career, and I'd love to see more of him dealing with tight narratives that don't involved the fate of the entire world.
This sounds like it'll be different from anything Arnold has ever done, and if the mystery and unsettling tone of Gullon's Enemy screenplay is any indication, this could end up being one of the most interesting films of the actor's career. Darren Aronofsky's Protozoa Pictures is producing, and shooting is supposed to get underway this fall.
