official cds all the way for me i dont get people paying the same price for a legal download from say itunes as you pay for proper cd with colour booklet etc , my cd collection which is in its thousands now love it and i dont care how much room it takes up its worth it , when your hard drives go down you lose that stuff

I can't do that like this, when it's an artist I support, I prefer to put the Cd and discover the songs one by one, it's always a real pleasure to get surprised while listening it the first time lol after u bought it

In France it's sad that some artists put 2 or 3 singles on their blog before the album gets released sometimes I don't like that....

I love having the physical copies for the artwork and the quality. However if a digital copy with higher quality was available i would opt for the digital copy just because of the increased quality. So for me having cds is mostly because of the sound quality.

i've started hating this current trend of releasing an album then a month later re-releasing the same album with like 3 or 4 more tracks, i really think it's slapping fans in the face.

yeah totally agree with you... this is why i say to mself to wait before buying an album but when it's just released i can't wait even if i know that it gonna be more tracks or bonus shit few month later

I have about 20 artists that I support and buy every single album on.

Pac, Biggie, Kenny Chesney, Big L, Jack Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, Big Pun, Janis Joplin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sublime, Nas, MAC, Snoop (Up Until He Left No Limit), Colbie Caillat are some of them. Have to support the artists we like so that it fuels future releases, especially on deceased artists such as Pac, L, Pun, Big, etc.

while it's cool to download shit for free i always prefer having the CD in my hand that way you know you're getting full quality plus all the liner notes in the booklet.
Yep, I agree. I'm a bit of an audiophile and when I put the CD in my home stereo, there's nothing like CD quality. Mp3 drops a lot of bass and fullness from the tracks even if encoded at 320.

No this is something I totally agree with. I've been burned like this on the Lil' Wayne and Uncle Kracker albums recently and it's very frustrating.

I mean, don't they get the fact that if you're buying their CD, you like their style and want as many tracks as possible? It's like we get punished for supporting the artists by buying when their album drops.

That's why I've stopped buying CD's until a month after they come out which will certainly hurt their "out of the gate" album sales thereby also slowing total album sales.

A little secret that I'll share about these releases...

In many cases, they will release different bonus tracks to Best Buy, Target, iTunes, and sometimes Walmart which means you have to by the damn album 4 times if you want all the songs! However, if you wait between 30-90 days, they will usually release an import version in Japan or the UK which includes most of the bonus tracks from all of these sources. I've found that if any are left off, it's usually the iTunes tracks which you couldn't get on CD anyway and you just search those out online.

I have to admit that I was so impressed with the new Pimp C album that I bought it without any bonus tracks today after it's only been out for a week. I hope I don't regret that.

Not the ones with the bonus tracks. Bonus track releases go up in price over time and in many cases, become completely impossible to find.
