To be honest I dont know the difference between CDQ aka FLAC and MP3, Im no audiophille , MP3 sounds crystal clear to me.
    Perhaps someone could enlighten me?
Prefer Mp3 over CD anyday , prefere having music on my hardrive.

If you listen on apple earbuds I completely agree that the difference is negligible. However if you listen through mid to high end equipment mp3 just doesn't cut it. Of course there's more to it than bitrates if too much dynamic compression is applied it doesn't matter if its wave or mp3 it will sound horrible. To read up on this search Google for "loudness war".

I rather holding an original hardcopy in my hands than to have wav/mp3 file on my computer...unreleased tracks are an exception. I also like vinyls and cassettes.

definitely cd, mp3 is lossy and cd is lossless.. i even rip all my cd's in flac format to my pc with exact audio copy so i can keep a lossless archive of all the music i have

            Vinyl is best consumer format
            then high quality cassettes
            then CD.

I agree, but how practical are they nowadays? How cool would it be if music was released at least in dvd quality.

there is no need for that.
most top world studios record at 96khz/ 24 bit, as standard, everything beyond that is waste of hard disc space

and i dont know how many home hi-fi systems can support 192 khz, expect blu ray players, but they are not THAT good (yet) to be used only as audio playback system.

then why you always request .WAVs in leak threads and diss Tanner for those mp3s he posted ?

also compact cds are called like that for a reason, because they are small and dont take much space like LP vinyls do.

But i actually prefer VINYL over any digital format.
If the vinyl is pressed from the same master used for the cd, then it wont be any improvement in quality.

Vinyls and CDs are always pressed from the original studio MASTER TAPE REEL.

you meant to say, if vinyl is pressed from the digital CD there wont be any improvement in quality?
i dont know any professional mastering facility who is using CD release to press albums on VINYL
that wiki article is full of bullshit, excuse my language

it always goes like this, at mastering studios:

multitrack reel > mastering to master reel > VINYL
                          or
multitrack reel > mastering to master reel > CD

Oreet thanks for the info. Would you recommend download 24 bit FLAC high q vinyl rips or the original FLAC from cd ripped with EAC correctly, that includes cue, log?

Yes that is what I do, I always buy the original CD, then rip it correctly with EAC to FLAC. Then my original cd is safe from harm and shit. But I been listening to more vinyl rips lately and I like the sound of them, that's why i asked Nikola. He seems to know a lot about audio and stuff.
