When TMZ broke the story about late singer Nate Dogg's estate and record executive David Michery owing CareMeridian rehabilitation facility $300,000 for non payment of Nate's medical bills, Michery blamed Nate's "famous rapper friends" for not helping out financially when Nate needed them.
"I was the only person who would come forward because I didn’t want him to die," Michery told TMZ. "Me and Nate have 20 years history together and I did what everyone should have done and tried to save his life ... not let him get kicked out in the streets and die. I would do it again in a minute. I just wish that the people he looked out for all these years and the people who claim to love him so much would help out."
Michery said he had several unreleased Nate Dogg song's that he was going to use to pay off Nate's medical bills.
Rapper Daz Dillinger of Tha Dogg Pound, a friend of Nate's and Snoop Dogg's cousin released a video today explaining his side of the story. He places the blame on Michery, Nate's former manager Rod McGrew, Thump Records and Reach Music publishing for stealing from Nate.
"Now listen, who's in control of Nate Dogg's estate? F*cking Rod McGrew, he's in control of that," Daz said. "So all the songs, and the checks...all that sh*t is going direct to his motherf*cking ass. He daughter has a baby by Nate Dogg, and he's in control of Nate Dogg's estate. Now tell me who got the fly Benz's, the new house, all that sh*t and why Nate Dogg's sh*t wasn't getting paid it's because of him. All the money was coming in, the daughter was getting the money. They was trying to f*ck the homie Nate Dogg. So, I'm gonna sue 'em, the hospital is going to sue 'em, and anybody that was a part of that motherf*cking album should sue 'em."
Daz warned Michery that he should expect a lawsuit soon as well.
"David Michery we're suing your motherf*cking ass too, you punk motherf*cker. How did you get in Nate Dogg's album when we was on Death Row? You're a thief," said Daz.
Daz added that he is siding with Nate's mom in all of this.
"We with Ms. Ruth...Nate Dogg's mama. Let's see how many fly whips Rod McGrew and his b*tch ass daughter is pushing around here. And what David Michery pushing--Thump Records stole, the publishing company Global Reach [Music]. Nate Dogg's publishing they stole a bunch of sh*t," Daz said. "Everybody in that whole camp stole. So the first person to sue 'em is the hospital and we right behind them. We gonna be suing the f*ck outta you n*ggas."
The album that seems to be at the center of the conflict is Nate Dogg's 1988 disc G-Funk Classics, Vol. 1 & 2. It was originally scheduled to be released on Death Row Records in 1996, but due to legal issues with Death Row it didn't come out until two years later on Dogg Foundation/Celestial Breakaway Records. David Michery was the executive producer of the project.
The album is now out of print, but is being sold by Thump Records.
