In Part Three of AllHipHop.com’s exclusive interview with Havoc, the super producer and one half of the legendary duo Mobb Deep explains the impact that Jay-Z’s infamous Summer Jam diss had on the group.
“The impact for me was that it just made me have to step my game up,” said Havoc. “Everybody was coming down on P, but I was holding him down like son is still good. I just felt like I had to step my game up when that happened. That should have been a beef that should have never took place.”
In his sit down with Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur, Havoc also spoke about how over time, Prodigy’s numerous beef’s put him “in the line of fire.”
“Whatever one person does in a group reflects on me. If I’m walking through someone’s ‘hood, that this dude [Prodigy] done dissed, I can’t sit there and go, ‘yo, but nah’ – they looking at me like I’m him, and dudes want to score points off of that,” explained Havoc. “So that always put me in the line of fire.”
