Legendary Cypress Hill hip-hop DJ and producer, DJ Muggs, takes us on a journey into the future sounds of dubstep, glitch, and grimy electronic music on his debut for Ultra Music with Bass For Your Face.
The Los Angeles producer turns his considerable hard-won skills and discerning ear to 12 original tracks featuring rising stars of hip-hop, a grime legend, a hip-hop god, and also an unknown Finnish singer discovered on SoundCloud. These guests include Public Enemy's Chuck D, Dizzee Rascal, Freddie Gibbs, Danny Brown, Killa P., Belle Humble, and Roc Marci.
A passionate devourer of new music and lover of classic underground sounds, Muggs has gone out of his way to challenge himself this time around. Touring the world for nearly 150 days a year and refusing to box himself into genres, he constantly searches for the next vibe and he has found it in dubstep.
For album, he went back to the drawing board and completely reinvented his production style. Welcoming the new experience, the veteran DJ explored a new process that included the meticulous building of sounds, eventually causing him to view the electronic genre as a return to the underground. With the new project, he hopes he can connect old school beat fanatics with the raw fundamentals of drum sounds and electronic basslines.
The new project is slated for release on January 15, 2013 via Ultra Music.
