  • Eve Says It Was "Devastating" To Be Dropped From Aftermath

Before Eve joined up with Ruff Ryders and set her career into motion, she was known as Eve of Destruction and signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment. But when it wasn't working out between the rapstress and the West Coast veteran, she got dropped from the label - a situation she recalls as "devastating."

During an interview with MTV's RapFix Live, Ruff Ryders' First Lady says that Dre never reached out to her directly to discuss her getting dropped, but says that they weren't seeing eye-to-eye. "That was devastating. Of course [Dre didn't call me]. It was real stealthy, too. I was in my cute little condo. I was 18, too. I was ballin'. They was like, you gotta go home," she said.

She also remembered that a particular person called her to break the news. Though she had to move from Los Angeles back to her native Philadelphia, she says that it was for the best.

"There was a person who definitely had the conversation with me, and I thought they was lying. And they wasn't lying. They sent my ass back to Philly. If I would've come out then, I wouldn't be where I am now. I know that 100 percent. I'm glad I dropped the 'of Destruction' part. I just want to be Eve."
